Four Balls, Everyone Rotates
Starting position
Two columns of four cones facing each other, a white cone at each end, nine players and four balls. Eight of them hold the stations, four on the left and four on the right; the ninth starts at the white cone and runs the middle channel. At each level he takes a ball from the right-hand column and gives it straight to the left — four balls, four passes, never stopping his feet. By the time he reaches the far white cone his hands are empty: he sprints straight back to where he started. Sixty-three metres in a shade under seven seconds. Then everybody moves up one place, the next man takes over, and the four balls come back the other way. Nine rounds, so that every player goes through all nine stations. What makes the game work is that you never do the same job twice running: feed on the right, give on the left, then run. Hands stay ready because the ball comes fast, and the legs only rest for the length of one station. Sixty-three seconds all told, and nobody got to breathe.
